More Talks about Organisations

This week we have been lucky enough to have 3 talks about organisations that take action

Peter - Variety

Anastasia's dad Peter works for Kennards Hire. He was part of the Variety Bash this year and brought his amazing car in for us to look at (and hear).

Variety-the Children’s Charity is a national not-for-profit organisation committed to empowering Australian children who are sick, disadvantaged or who have special needs to LIVE, LAUGH & LEARN.

The Variety Bash is Australia's largest (and favourite!) motoring event with participants travelling to rural parts of Australia that they would otherwise not see, at the same time raising money for disadvantaged and special needs children. Throughout the Bash, participants visit local towns, stopping into the schools to visit the kids (some schools only having 5 students!). Bashers get to see the smiles of the kids they've help and provide the schools with equipment to assist students development and education.

Indie's mum Cath came and spoke to us about UnitingCare Wesley's campaign Hang if up for Poverty. This campaign raises awareness about homelessness in South Australia and provides practical ways for people to help.

Cath works as a freelance photographer and has taken some beautiful photos for them this year.

She also showed us some YouTube clips. These are the links:

Year 7 - RSPCA

As part of their exhibition, 4 of the year 7s went to the RSPCA to find out what they did. This was lucky for us as they were able to come back and talk to us about the organisation.

The RSPCA is an independent, non-government community-based charity providing animal care and protection services.

The RSPCA runs 40 shelters and employs around 1,000 staff. It costs more than $80 million each year to deliver all of our services which help improve the lives of Australian animals. Most of this money comes from public donations and fundraising initiatives, as well as business partnerships, grants and RSPCA patrons.
